Story

The story of Ralphy Grey begins long before his current success. Born into a musical family in the former GDR, Ralphy Grey was surrounded by rock and pop music from an early age. He supplemented his pocket money as a school DJ and created his own mixes by bouncing them from a cassette recorder onto a tape recorder, as there were hardly any records in East Germany. He quickly learned to play guitar, piano and drums and began recording his school bands with a cassette recorder. Even then, he was enthusiastic about producing music.

Story – The Retro Journey of Ralphy Grey 🎶

Born into a musical family in the former GDR, Ralphy Grey was surrounded by rock and pop music from an early age. As a school DJ, he created his own mixes by bouncing cassettes to tape recorders due to the scarcity of records in East Germany. He quickly learned to play guitar, piano, and drums, recording his first school bands with a cassette recorder – a passion that would define his career.

His journey took a pivotal turn when a friend acquired a synthesizer from the West. Captivated by its futuristic sound, Ralphy formed his first band, taking up bass guitar and eventually studying music in Leipzig & Berlin. Frustrated with studio recordings that failed to capture his vision, he decided to produce his own music.

In 2015, he opened his first studio in Berlin’s legendary Funkhaus der DDR, which evolved into his Mission Control Studio – a creative hub for national and international artists. His big break came in 2020 when a Hamburg publisher approached him to create synthwave music, leading to his debut album “Neon Journey” and a signature style he calls “contemporary retro electro house pop”.

His first vocal track, “Halloween Is Back”, was followed by “Release The Beast”, which hit #1 on SubmitHub charts and secured a spot in a Spotify Editorial Playlist. Since then, he has collaborated with international guest vocalists, continuously attracting new fans worldwide.
